Monday, April 4th, 2011

As a television series that has a reputation which precedes iteself around the world, Star Trek, is worthy enough to be developed into a branded slot game. In 2009, the eleventh movie installment was released by Paramount Pictures. WagerWorks recently produced a Star Trek slot game based on the most recent movie.

The background of the game is set in the cockpit of the Enterprise space ship. There are a variety of symbols directly from the movie such as:

  • Captain Kirk
  • Spock
  • Uhura
  • Scotty
  • High value card symbols
  • Star Trek logo

As the highest ranking officer on the ship, Captain Kirk provides the highest payout of 1,000 coins. The other members are regular symbols. The animations of these symbols not flashy, they simply consist of lights flashing and music from the movie. The Star Trek logo is representative of the wild symbol and appears on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 as substitutes for all icons with the exception of bonus symbols.

For the free spins bonus round, Kirk appropriately states, “I don’t believe in no-win scenarios.” Each free spin can be taken until the player hits and wins. The player begins with between three and six free spins offered at triple the payout. The Kirk bonus game features a special symbol of Kirk and Spock that substitutes for both the Kirk and Spock symbols. The Spock bonus game introduces Spock as the wild symbol. When Kirk and Spock appear on the same reel, payouts are doubled.

Kanga Cash – A Fun New Aussie Themed Slot

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Vegas Technology recently released Kanga Cash, an Australian and gold prospecting-themed slot game. The twist is this game is not set in California. Instead, the background is the Australian outback as is evident by the graphics on the reels. The symbols in the game include:

  • The kangaroo
  • Gold prospector’s shack
  • The prospector
  • The Koala bear
  • Prospector’s hat
  • A can

One of the most important symbols in the game is the kangaroo which acts as the wild symbol to substitute for other symbols in order to create winning combinations. When five kangaroo symbols appear on any payline, the fixed jackpot of 10,000 coins is released to the player. The gold prospector’s shack represents the scatter symbol. Therefore, when two or more appear on the reels, the player is showered by scattered payouts that are multiplied by the total wager.

The scatter payout for five shack symbols is 200 coins. As found in all Vegas Technology slot games, the wild and scatter symbols become animated when they pay. The kangaroo cocks his head and winks while the shack changes from a day to night scene. The prospector icon provides another fixed jackpot worth 5,000 coins. The Koala bear also offers a fixed jackpot worth 2,500 coins. There are many ways to win in Kanga Cash.

The low paying symbols are the prospector’s hat and a can used to cook the prospector’s food. Additionally, there are high value symbols from ace to nine that are crafted in the distinguishable Vegas Technology style.

Unfortunately there is no free spins bonus game. However, there is a lucrative bonus game that pays handsomely and is visually pleasing. The name of the game is “Gold Panning” which can be activated by three or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. The prospector dips his gold pan into the river and shakes it to reveal chunks of gold. The number and size of the nuggets determines the multiplier which is applied to the original bet. This occurs until the nuggets are exhausted.

The game features a total of 25 paylines with all the Vegas Technology options like Auto Spin. Kanga Cash is available at all Vegas Technology casinos so there are plenty of options for participation. This is a fun and exciting slot game with a different theme than the typical panning for gold. Stop by one of the many casinos to try your luck at finding your gold.
