Pokerlistings.com Founder Shot Dead in Sweden

The online gambling world is still in mourning over the death of online poker mogul Andreas Oscarsson.  Founder of leading internet poker site Pokerlistings.com, it has been reported that the body of 36-year old Oscarsson was discovered on Monday morning August 3.  The well respected business man was found lying deceased in his bed and a gunshot wound to the head is the apparent cause of death.

According to comments published on the Pokerlistings.com website, Oscarsson left behind the operational aspect of the business a little over two years ago, shortly after giving birth to his son.  The website reported that Andreas had migrated to an advisory role within the company, using his vast experience to provide guidance for the existing team when needed.

Andreas has been described as a source of great inspiration to colleague in the business environment and a kind and loving person to those closest to him.  Many involved in the online gambling world are calling him one of the industry’s true pioneers as his initial goals were to create a global leading online casino operation.  PokerListings.com is pushing to keep the dream alive and carry through on the wishes of the entrepreneur who was so instrumental in the company’s success.  Friends and family are asking that Andreas being remembered as a warm and loving father who would do anything he could to help the next man.

Various reports state that Oscarsson was visiting his native home Sweden with his two-year old son.  As of now, authorities are reporting that one or several individuals invaded the home and murdered the mogul in cold blood.  While police have yet to determine a motive, many of the victim’s friends and associates have suggested that concrete death threats were made towards the deceased prior to his untimely death.   According to Thord Haraldsson, head of Trollhattan Police Anti-Crime unit, several of Oscarsson’s family members and his son where present in the house when the body was discovered.  However, Haraldsson iterates that none of his relatives are being viewed as suspects in the homicide.  A resident of New York in the United States, it is believed that Oscarrson was scheduled to leave Sweden the day after he was killed.  His wife has reportedly left her home in the states to fly to Sweden while the investigation proceeds.

Although the details are still shaky, unspecified leaks within the police investigation hint that the murder could have been a planned, professional hit to take out the established internet poker magnate.  This twist culminates with the 2008 killing of another man named Andreas Oscarsson, who many are now speculating may have lost his life in a case of mistaken identity with the perpetrators intending to kill the poker king.

Robert Edh, commander of Gothenburg’s police communication center, remarked that a thorough forensics investigation has been conducted at the crime scene and that the preliminary investigation points to the charges of murder or manslaughter.  More details are sure to come in as authorities scramble to break the case in this tragic situation.
